Ad-753 162 Radiation Induced F-region Plasma Phenomena

چکیده
Collective plasma phenomena induced in the ionospheric F-region by intense high-frequency radiation are examined on several time and length scales. The short wavelengh, high-frequency turbulence associated with the observed high-frequency enhanced electron density fluctuations at the electron plasma frequency is shown to result from parametric excitation of plasma and acoustic waves by the highfrequency radiation. The wave kinetic equation describing the nonlinear evolution or the turbulence is presented. The time asymptotic spectral intensity ii» calculated and a formula for the total energy absorption from the incident radiation via nonlinear collective effects is obtained. A radiation induced self-focussing instability is found on a length scale somewhat larger than an ion Larmor radius, and is offered as a possible explanation for the occurrence of magnetic field aligned density filaments, which are associated with the phenomenon of "artificial Spread-F." The calculated growth rates are in agreement with the time delay for appearance of spread-F after modifier turn on.

Radiation induced sarcoma is a rare but recognized complication of radiotherapy and is associated with poor prognosis, frequently occurs 5 years after completion of treatment. We report radiation-induced sarcoma in a 42 years old male, involving the left parietooccipital scalp region following treatment of brain tumor with craniotomy and post-operative radiation with 60Co machine. Diagnosis of ...

Time resolved laser induced incandescence (LII) technique is used to measure size distribution of soot nanoparticles of candle's flame. Pulsed Nd:YAG laser is used to heat nanoparticles to incandescence temperature and the resulting signal is measured. Mass and energy balance equations are numerically solved to calculate temperature of soot particles in low fluence regime. Assuming Plank black ...

In 2016, scientists reported that human exposure to low doses of ionizing radiation (CT scans of the brain) might relieve symptoms of both Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson disease (PD). The findings were unbelievable for those who were not familiar with neurohormesis. X-ray stimulation of the patient’s adaptive protection systems against neurodegenerative diseases was the mechanism pr...
متن کاملElectromagnetic energy penetration in the self-induced transparency regime of relativistic laser-plasma interactions.
Two qualitatively different scenarios for the penetration of relativistically intense laser radiation into an overdense plasma, accessible by self-induced transparency, are presented. In the first one, penetration of laser energy occurs by solitonlike structures moving into the plasma. This scenario occurs at plasma densities less than approximately 1.5 times the critical one (depending on ion ...
